STX Legacy Tournament is here for summer of 2010

Youth Coaches,

STX, Sean Morris and myself would like to invite your town program to the STX Legacy Invitational, Memorial Day Lacrosse Tournament being held on May 29th and May 30th, 2010, Hingham, MA:

We already have a handful of youth programs on board and we just got word from STX to run this event with their sponsorship. We felt there was a gap for a high level tournament for town teams as most tournaments are geared for club programs and can be expensive with entry fee's of $1000 + per team which is acceptable for a club organization but very tough for a town team. The format for the STX Legacy Invitational will be a Town Youth Tournament with each town bringing their Best Players Per Grade at the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade level. Every team will play 5 games (3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday). We will limit the tournament to 16 teams in each grade. On Saturday teams will play in their grouping and Sunday will be the Playoff and Championship Games.

The winning team in each grade will receive a trophy and STX prize. We will also be presenting the town with the most overall points acquired from the tournament as the Top Youth Program. Points will be accrued throughout the tournament with teams receiving points for wins and ties.

All games will have 2 referees (except small ball games which will have 1 referee). All games will be 2 / 20 minute running time halves. Teams will have 1 timeout per half. Teams will not be able to call a timeout in the last two minutes of the final half. All time will be kept at a central clock with all fields running on one clock. All games will begin with a horn blast from the main tent. There will be 2 quick blasts of the horn when there is 2 minutes remaining in each quarter and then a long horn blast ending the quarter/game.

All playoff games on Sunday will have OT if needed to declare a winner. The playoff games will have a 5 minute overtime if needed and if no winner is declared, then they will have a Braveheart to determine winner(no braveheart in Championship and Semi final games, sudden death play)

The 3rd grade and 4th grade group will be playing all small ball games in Hingham on both Saturday and Sunday. The 5th grade - 8th grade groups will be playing games on Saturday at either Hingham High fields or Thayer South Campus turf fields. On Sunday, grades 5th - 8th will be playing all games in Hingham High fields.

We will have 8 full size grass fields at Hingham High. All Games on Saturday will begin at 8am . Sunday games will begin at 9am with playoff games and Championships. Every field will have an official scorekeeper who will record and report official score. At the end of the game, each coach will have to sign to acknowledge the score of the game along with the referee signature.

Format:
Memorial Day weekend Tournament - All games on Saturday and Sunday
Vendors on site with discounted lax equipment and giveaways
Each town brings in a grade based team at the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade level
Grade level divisions
We invite 16 Towns only and crown a Champion at each grade level and then an overall Town Program Champion for most points based on overall games won at each grade
Trophies for each Champion Crowned and STX prizes for winning teams.
All Champion teams will have their photograph in the summer issue of Inside Lacrosse Magazine

Our goal is to provide a highly competitive lacrosse tournament for a reasonable fee, full length games, 2 referees at all games, every team playing 5 games, and an opportunity for the top youth programs to go head to head at each grade level.

Price - $600 per team for 5th grade - 8th grades (full field 10 vs 10)
Price - $300 per team for 3rd and 4th grade (small ball games - 7 vs 7 )
Includes referee fee's, field rental, insurance, portable toilets, EMT, tourney staff, trash disposal, marketing, and administrative fee's.

This will be an invitational Tournament. This is your Town Invitation to bring in a team at the 3rd, 4th, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade level. We are only inviting 16 towns to keep this event highly competitive and for a chance of bragging rights on not only who has the best youth team, but the best youth program.

Please respond if you would like to secure spots for your youth organization: Do not delay as this is your chance to go against the best youth teams in Mass. Bragging rights are on the line ! !

Best,

Dan Chouinard
Sean Morris
